About Me
I grew up in a small town in Kentucky just south of the Ohio River. Coming from a homogenous and rural area, I always felt like there was so much of the world for me to discover which led me first to an interest in performing.
There has been music in my life for as long as I can remember; my family is full of musicians and gave me my first guitar for my second birthday. Throughout my childhood I joined choirs and bands so I was able to sing. In 7th grade I auditioned for my first musical which cemented theater as an integral part of my life.
While performing was a huge part of my experience I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in something different, which led me to my passion for politics. Growing up in a conservative state I felt incredibly connected to progressive politics because I was able to see how hard liberals in the south had to work. I volunteered for campaigns and applied to study political science at The George Washington University.
At GW I have had the privilege of pursuing a variety of opportunities for leadership. During my sophomore and junior years, I served as the Vice President of Operations for the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. With my position as VPO, I was able to cultivate a talent for leadership and organization through leading chapter meetings, amending our bylaws, facilitating elections, and more.
Additionally, I have had the honor of serving as the Executive Producer for Generic Theatre Company, GW’s oldest student theatre company. As the Executive Producer, my job was to lead the company in the production of 4 full length shows and 2 showcases. Through securing rights, coordinating rehearsals, and streamlining communication, I was able to hone more of my leadership skills. During my sophomore year with Generic Theatre co. I also had the opportunity to direct Steven Sater’s Spring Awakening, which has been the highlight of my GW experience.
On top of my involvement in student organizations, I also work in the Undergraduate Office of Admissions at GW as a student ambassador. Through this job I have made plenty of connections both with current and prospective students.
This past semester I also had the opportunity to run communications for Ethan Lynne’s Student Government Association Vice Presidential campaign. Through a combination of digital and in-person efforts we were able to win the race and increase election turnout by over 3,000 votes from last year.
The first 21 years of my life have been filled with creativity and passion, and I welcome you to continue with me and my journey.
